Storm’s Coming Came
That was a real storm we just had. Knocking out power for thousands, and blowing over trees all over Cache Valley, the amount of storm damage we’re seeing is pretty shocking. On top of that, temperatures are dropping. Just last week, I was struggling to keep my house cool and talking about low-water landscaping to cut down on water usage during the heat. Today, it’s so cold I’ve had to run the heater! How fast things change.
Storm Damage
When most people talk storm damage, they’re usually referring to their homes. Storms also do damage to your yard, though. Uprooted trees really tear up the sod as they come down. Even if they don’t, all that wind brings down branches and leaves that all need to be cleaned up. Not to mention the damage to trees, shrubberies, and gardens. It’s gonna take a lot of work getting things looking good again. It might have also caused damage to your sprinklers, if knocked over trees had roots near your sprinkler systems.

Sprinkler Blow-Outs
The wind isn’t the only thing that’ll blow out this fall. Your sprinklers are also going to need a blow-out. The sudden drop in temperature is a strong reminder at how quickly the weather can change. You want to blow out your sprinklers before it gets too cold. If this sudden temperature drop is anything to go by, there’s no telling when the freeze will come. You should be scheduling a time to get that done now, while there’s still time. If you wait too long, you might end up finding everybody’s booked up and it’ll be hard to get an appointment. Worse, if your appointment gets pushed back, the freeze might come before you’ve had it done.
You don’t want to spend the whole winter worrying if your sprinkler pipes are going to burst and flood your yard in the spring.
